The time has come to assemble the new Safety Patrol team for the 2022-2023 school year. Students are chosen based on their ability to accept responsibility, assume roles of leadership, and be exemplary role models for the entire student body. This is an honor and an important job for any 6th grader.
This year each member must meet the following qualifications before being eligible as a candidate for safety patrol:
1. Permission slips will be distributed.
2. He/she must attend a brief interest meeting
3. He/she must be a student who consistently exhibits appropriate school behavior.
Classroom teachers and Mrs. DelPriore, Safety Patrol Coordinator, will report all students’ safety patrol behavior to the administration. Administrators reserve the right to release students of their duty if they are not fulfilling their specific assignment or for inappropriate behavior of any kind.
Morning Safety Patrol Duty
Job Description: Students who are assigned Morning Duty are expected to arrive by 8:25 am and remain on duty until 8:35 am. Students MUST be appropriately dressed for the weather. Students will help their assigned class line up and support teachers to safely walk students from outside line to their classrooms. During inclement weather, safety patrol students will report to the hallway outside the classroom. The safety patrol members will help staff keep students safe and appropriately behaving in the hallway.
Hallway Safety Patrol Duty
Job Description: Students who are assigned hallway duty are expected to arrive to their assigned location at 8:20 am and remain on duty until 8:35 am. Students will be responsible to keep hallways safe.
Lunch Safety Patrol Duty
Job Description: Students will either be assigned to lunch or recess duty. Students who are assigned to these duties will support staff members in the lunchroom or outside on the playground. Further details will be discussed with students given this assignment.
